Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am thankful for all my friends and family, all my toys and gadgets and for being alive. Oh and my employment and housing. I think that covers it all.

It's hard to complain when the rest of the world is going through this bad downturn. So, thanks for another good year, hopefully, I will have more to be thankful for next year.

No XMas for XM

The holiday music channels are starting to pop up on Sirius XM channels. I'm stil kind of dissapointed that they couldn't come up with a better name for the the merged company.

Anyway, got an email last week that we're not having a Holiday Party this year, but instead are getting the day after Christmas off. I'm not opposed to that because 1) I don't usually go to the Holiday Party and 2) that means more OT. Which brings me to my question. Our questionable leader has given everybody one more Holiday essentially, but with all the people that this company needs to keep itself running 24-7, how much more do you think that this will cost them opposed to throwing a Holiday Party nobody went to?

I know I will make high 3 figures for working that day since I get the time worked at 1.5 times and the Holiday pay. So that's 2.5 times for a day that I was suppose work anyway. Add on top of that, we got Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve as Holidays this year. I figure we have 25-30 people here in the builidng that day having to work OT and then the other people needed to fill in the time they would be working also as 1.5 OT pay. Being generous, do you think a party could cost more than 50K or is this a cheap morale booster?

These are the things I ponder late at night because really, the markets are closed and I can't surf for new stocks to buy. I'm ready to jump in, just need to find the stocks to jump. My lil' brother has given me a good start and after Thanksgiving, I'm jumping in. I'll let you know next year if I'm ready to retire or add my 5th job.

PS3

Bah.. My roommates bought a PS3. I'm not on board for the purchase, but it's not my money so what do I have to say? I'm the biggest Sony fan you will probably ever meet, but that was not one purchase I could justify. I was ready to do it for the BluRay part, but I realized I don't watch enough movies to justify it and they'll have cheaper and newer ones coming out closer to XMas. That's my bet and since I'm not buying I can make that kind of bet.

No Hotel Yet

So, the offer on the house I was looking for in Sterling fell through. It was a nice little house at the perfect price.

I'm kind of sad and relieved. I wasn't exactly in the right place to make a huge purchase, but when are you really in the perfect place to drop $300K? Well, I mean if you're not a rich billionaire throwing your kid their sweet 16 birthday party. (Did I mention that I'm watching a lot more crap TV?) I'm sure there are plenty more houses out there and I'll be more cash friendly soon, so when the house comes, I'm ready.

I'm sad though because I was looking for a little change. Kind of been in a bad place lately. Not like sad depressed bad, but more annoyed and disappointed bad. You have these expectations of people and they just don't fullfill them. I suppose if they didn't know they were living up to your expectations they can't know they failed, but they have and it makes you even madder that they have failed and you have to tell them.

I won't though because I live in the belief that if you're happy then good luck and good for you. Just because I'm unhappy doesn't mean I have the right to mess with your happiness. Noble right? Yeah, because I hate discussing and confrontations. Let's just live in our happy little bubbles. I'll plot taking over the world over here in mine if you don't mind.

Gmail Themes

I should be in bed, but I'm trying to decide on a GMail theme. I had the Ninja one as my favorite but the black background was making my display screen too dark and giving my eyes a problem. The vision problem though Could be the fact that I've been back obsessed with Lumines on the XBox and my contacts are drying out. I wanted to try out the new interface so while waiting started playing now can't stop.

Apparently also, I'm getting schooled in Batman Legos from the kid because his dad plays it and I downloaded the demo for him and he knows where to go and how to get to all the different locations. I had him yelling at me, "NO go THAT way. GLIDE OVER." Yeah kid, I'M TRYING!! The controller doesn't listen to me like it should. I KNOW UP THERE!! Sheesh.. Now I'm thinking about buying the game so we can go through the whole thing together and he can just keep pointing and yelling at me. It'll be our quantity bonding. Finally somebody who will play video games with me. If only he was allowed to stay up past 9. Parents! :-)

Bored...

It's 3 in the morning. Why isn't anybody awake? Yeah, I know it's normal people sleeping time. It's my lunchtime.

There's snow on the forecast!!! I went outside but it's just cold which is fine too. I love Winter. It's probably my favorite season. A nice fall day is nice too, but it's got to have the smell of a fire going in the background.

So, I want to go to CES this year because well, it's in Vegas and I can get a cheap (well, cheaper) room and I would assume airfare would be cheap too. We're in a recession ya know? :-) That plan might fall through, but that's ok, because then I might be able to go to Omaha or AZ. I haven't been to AZ since a friend of mine moved out there 5 years ago and I think she's getting mad that we never get to hang out. It's her fault for moving so far away and into desert where it's 100 in the shade. So, I'll decide in the next few weeks where I'm going depending on airfare and potential activity.

Scanning for Viruses...

I write this as I wait for another window to finish scanning for viruses in a gmail message I got with a ton of attachments I need to download. It's 33 pics of maybe 50K each so I'm not sure what's taking it so long, but I'm on my "lunch" break, so I got time. I just waiting for my hour to end so I can go back to the big fishbowl and sit for another hour before I am able to leave and judge people as I drive by them at 6AM.

I feel like I need the virus scan though. I spent pretty much my whole week sleeping this week. I'm not disputing that I probably could use it, but I don't normally need that much sleep. It could be the daylight savings or a cold descending. I don't know why. This is the opposite of what I need to do though. I have a ton of work that needs to be finished and I have a ton of OT that I am doing for XM in the next few weeks, so I should get the rest of my work done so I won't be so rushed for that. That's what an efficient worker will do. I'm not that worker. I will wait until things are due and rush them out the door. It's worked out well for me so far.

So, went to look at house with B's mom before work today. It's a nice house with a great price. Only flaw is it is in Sterling. It will be a perfect house for her, but I might buy with her if she doesn't qualify with the new mortgage rules and things and add to my kingdom. Four houses = Hotel, right?

I'm kind of torn about my current living arrangement. I like living with my replacement HOY people, but now I live with a BF/GF situation and not just 3 single people. There's a lot more drama than before. I don't do drama well because most of the time it's wasted energy. You can't change people for who they are, so you either live with them as they are or move on. I live in the Fairy Tale World of relationships, but I think it is that simple. Too many people get absorbed into the idealism of being a couple or creating the perfect SO or relationship. Good luck to you, but then you won't lead the happy life that I do. :-)
